This service is used by people doing a serious job. It should not be harder than it needs to be for anyone.

Before this site goes live

This statement needs a date, and its claims need to be verified by an actual audit — automated checks plus manual keyboard and screen-reader testing. Replace the bracketed items and update the "known issues" section with what the audit finds. Do not publish a conformance claim you have not tested.

Our commitment

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA across this website and the Martyn's Law Workbook platform. Accessibility forms part of product testing rather than being checked once at the end.

What we have built in

  • Keyboard navigation — every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard, including the navigation menus and the accordions.
  • Visible focus — a clear, high-contrast focus indicator on every focusable element.
  • Skip link — a "skip to main content" link as the first focusable item on every page.
  • Colour contrast — text and interface colours are chosen to meet the AA contrast ratios, and colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
  • Semantic headings — one h1 per page and a logical heading order beneath it.
  • Form labels — every field has a visible, associated label; hints and error messages are programmatically linked to their field.
  • Error descriptions — errors are described in text, listed at the top of the form, and focus moves to the first problem.
  • Alternative text — meaningful images have text alternatives; decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Touch targets — interactive controls are at least 44 × 44 CSS pixels.
  • Reduced motion — animation and smooth scrolling are disabled when your system asks for reduced motion.
  • Resizable text — the layout works at 200% zoom without loss of content or function.
  • Responsive — usable on desktop, laptop, tablet and smartphone, in portrait and landscape.
  • Works without JavaScript — every page is readable and every link works with scripting unavailable.
  • Forced colours — supported for users of Windows high contrast modes.

The platform

The Workbook application is designed to be usable on a phone for the things people actually do on a phone — reviewing actions, completing assessments, uploading evidence, updating an action's status and viewing plans. Some complex management functions are optimised for tablet or desktop, where a larger screen genuinely helps.

Known issues
